Other area footprint fossil location


Within the precincts dinosaur footprint fossils, together with ripple mark and raindrop traces, have been discovered.  Gyeseungsa has the intrusion of igneous rock, resulting in the thermal metamorphism being received and the hornfels-formed rock are abundant  around the area.  These are occupying a space at the valley, made by the cutting of the hornfels-formed stratum.

In this place dinosaur footprint fossils can mostly be discovered primarily north-west to the entrance, near the valley.

Hailmyun Yongtaeli Shore
Towards the west of Hailmyun stands Haimyun, towards the north Sanglimyun, and towards the east Samsanmyun.  Towards Yongtaeli shore the interesting footprint fossils of the long-heeled therpoda types can be discovered, in addition to fragment type footprints, empty column layers, rain prints and ripple marks can also be observed.

Samsanmyun Galmanggae Shore
Dinosaur egg fossils have been discovered at 3 places in Samsanmyun – one place along Galmanggae Shore and two places along Maligae Shore.  The dinosaur egg fossils were found on with red sandstone in an irregular state on its shells and can be observed on the same side as Toggiseom.

Coming off the regional road and following the shore there is a shrimp cultivation center.  Upon passing this and going approximately 150m further, dinosaur egg fossils are in the mountainous district.  IN another place, egg fossils have been discovered south-east, on the other side.

The dinosaur fossils mountainous district of Goseong Eup can be named as two places.  One is Shinwolli Gusunchang Shore where fragment type dinosaur footprints exist in the mountainous district.  The second place is the peninsula which sticks out, where the Wolpyoungli-gu Hygienic Environment Office is located.  In particular, the district surrounding the office is where turtle egg fossils were discovered for the first time in Korea and is gaining the interest of the academic world.
